The Higher Learning Company® recommends Team-Based Learning (TBL) as an efficient, effective, active learning pedagogy to enhance and deepen student learning. TBL was developed by Larry Michaelsen over thirty years ago while he was on the faculty at the University of Oklahoma.

The Higher Learning Company® will conduct faculty workshops on how to transform existing lecture-based curricula into a TBL format. The CEO of The Higher Learning Company® led two college of pharmacy faculties in designing the entire didactic curriculum on a TBL frame. Over the three years it took to do this, many lessons were learned that will be shared during the workshop.

TBL is becoming increasingly prevalent in medical schools and pharmacy schools, but the method is applicable to any discipline.
